by jess ‘grateful for redneck pools’ lewis
we’re trying to beat the heat any way we can around here. that includes splashing around in a lopsided pool whose water level barely grazes the top of my thighs (and i’m not tall by any means). a friend gave us this pool when they discovered it wasn’t cooperating with their lopsided yard. we didn’t really give it an option in our lumpy yard. there’s less schlepping of stuff to the pool, it’s deep enough the kids can swim (and not wear floaties) and they can jump, fly, splash and swim to their hearts content.
these are PURE happiness and childhood. i love each and every one.
the best part is they let me take their pictures! they love seeing these kinds of shots of themselves. henry is often a willing model, but bea is not.
ps henry’s lashes are the bomb!
I love the portraits. How often are you in there with a drink in hand?
thanks, i’m still not sure about bea’s. the preset i used really changed her eye color and even with tweaking they seem so bright. but, the picture was really dark to begin with so i’m just glad it turned out usable.
i’m not in there often enough.
Can you please come and photograph everything in my entire life? You have an amazing eye. And TIMING!
ha! your cute little girl looks like she’d be a great subject, she looks like such a character!
She’s great when there’s a camera! She screams “CHEESE!” and gives the greatest fake smiles. I love pictures of kids.
Looks like the kids are getting the most out of the pool . . . that first one is priceless!
she’s a nut, that one. they love that pool and the freedom they get when they don’t have to wear floaties.
These photos made my entire day- especially as I just heard a bit of thunder on a cloudy day in Park City! The first photo is pure abandon- and the rest are pure joy. Thank you!
oh man, we need the rain. we’ve been teased by the rumblings of thunder several days this week, but unfortunately not a lot of rain. our yard is crunchy and the garden is struggling. wish we could trade weather for a bit!
These photos are SO great- totally make me resent being in my stuffy office but a welcome resentment.
thank you! the good thing is it’s summer, plenty of sunshine left for you when you leave the office (i hope)!!
I seriously want to come live at your house : )
These are fantastic…feels like summer and I can hear the screams and laughter…
That first one of Bea just grabs my heart…
you’re welcome any time!
bea calls her jumps “the super awesome beazy jump”.
she’s crazy! if she ever takes up skateboarding i’ll be a wreck.
That looks soooo refreshing! Love those faces 🙂
you guys need to start planning a tour of the south! so many faces to come see! and we all want to see your face!!
Love the third and the last image, beautiful eyes
