i can’t remember the last time i or any one in this house was bored. when i hear someone say that they’re bored, i can’t really comprehend what they mean. the word just doesn’t exist in this house. it’s especially difficult to be bored in the summer. there is always something to pop, play, capture, explore, paint, create, imagine, learn, conquer, watch, read, grow, climb, dig, sculpt, build, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera (this list could go on for much longer. i’ll spare you.). it may sound chaotic, but i promise it’s not. i am anti-chaotic, moreso in the summertime. we just like our days to be filled. and that does include some down time. a lot of it actually (especially when the temperatures spike). but, that down time never, ever includes boredom (most times it involves activities that can be done lying beneath a ceiling fan).
how are you defying boredom this summer?
Saying, “I’m bored,” was the equivalent of telling my mom to Fuck off in the summer . . . and I have a hard time saying it now. Not that I do anything particularly spectacular in the summer, but even chilling under the ceiling fan (lots of that here) reading Jane Eyre is kinda heavenly.
oh I love that orange paint and chair!
i adore it all. the dragon drawing is awesome! and that paint!!!! what color is that paint! i have a bookshelf in bad need of a coat or paint, i think that orange might be perfect. what color is it?
we have been fighting the boredom iwth summer reading program and still settling in to our new space… decorating here and there. actually i just hung your peace crane photo in our bathroom today!
Love the pictures, especially the couch photo! Mouse Trap will always be an amazing game. I have the unfortunate fate of working all summer without any extra holidays.
I adore this little peek into your life!! Swimming and science experiments and bike riding have kept us moving! And I, too, love the orange.
Keira has been on a real painting kick! And now she is obsessed with High Ho Cherry-O. Hmm… What is he doing with the jar? I’m trying to spend more time outside with the girls, now that our backyard is fairly safe. š
I tell my kids that boredom is a luxury they can’t afford. Go outside. Dig a hole. Bounce a ball. Play with the dog. You can’t be bored…impossible! If that doesn’t work…I tell them to empty the dishwasher or clean their room…suddenly the boredom is gone. funny how that works.
