i am a simple girl. i like simple things.
10 dollars in my pocket and an hour to myself at goodwill and i am a very happy camper.
thrifting is my therapy of choice. pyrex bowls and coffee mugs, vintage pillowcases, melmac plates, and shoes are my weakness….
i do not have a green thumb, but i keep trying.
i prefer to be barefoot, but it is almost winter here so i love me a soft pair of slippers (no socks).
and blue jeans, always blue jeans…
i collect stuff. leaves. shells. seaglass. feathers. wine corks. mason jars full of all of these things litter my windowsills and mantle. oh, and i have a knack for finding love where ever i go.
scarves make me happy…
i have a big heart that and a loud laugh. i look like my daddy. i bite my nails, but am trying to quit. i love to dip buttered toast sprinkled with cinnamon into my mug of hot chocolate. i sing loud in my car. i love a hot shower. i cook a great pot of chicken and dumplings and bake a pretty good pie. i prefer iced tea and lemonade, but a cold can of pbr is pretty great too. i make blonde babies and sew imperfect quilts. i have great teeth and terrible knees. i love the wildness of the ocean, and the quiet of the woods. graffiti, snail mail. and kid art makes me happy. i am 40 years old and finally feel like i like me.
enough about me…. tell me something about you.
all of this made me smile, but that last line had me doing a victorious fist pump in the air for you.
xo
fist pump! 🙂 xo D
This is very lifting. Reminds me how beautiful life is and we can find happiness in simple things.
yes i am a huge believer and lover of the “little things”

I like you too! :o)
Lovely You!
You and I sound like we were cut from the same cloth! Simple, thrifty, collections, barefoot (Grampa called me Oakie), look like daddy, laugh loudly, comfortable in 40 year skin, happiness through snail mail & kid art, the emotions stirred by ocean and woods – – it’s me! … differences : I make dark (nearly black) haired babies. I do have a green thumb (though not as green as my Gram). I prefer kombucha, water, or red wine. my pies are requested more than anything else this time of year. I have more acne now than when I was in puberty, but I eat WAY better??? What’s up with THAT?! Sushi is one of my love languages. 🙂
Thanks for sharing yourself! What a treat to find someone I relate to so well.
You write so succinctly — and wonderfully! Like you, now that I am in my 40s, I feel much more like the me I was meant to be.
Your words and pictures have painted a beautiful picture of who you are. I hope one day I can know who I am and ‘feel like me’. I find myself in awe of people who know themselves so well. I’m in the searching phase, the beginning…
You are beautiful, Kristin. Thank you for sharing this. xo
mary you will. it has taken me many many years… xo
Your last line said it all. Your 40’s are the start of the real you. it is that time of life that seems to combine courage, opportunity, and dreams.
thank you kay
I love going to your blog and your photos are just wonderful. I have been taking baby steps into getting to know myself as well, add five years to your 4o and that is me. I do think we all should slow down and enjoy the simple parts of life. I live in a quiet spot off the beaten path and I carry my camera every where I go.I love books and really love the smell of the sea air.I have just found knitting again so every spare moment Iam knitting. Tina
If my pyrex collection met your pyrex collection, it’d be one hell of a love fest!
p.s. I miss your big laugh!
